This energy is used to split a water molecule into hydrogen and oxygen atoms. The hydrogen is used to reduced carbon dioxide to make carbohydrates. Therefore, Atrazine stops photosynthesis by inhibiting the capacity of the plant to harness energy from sunlight for photosynthesis.
