Tigers and lions are known to be of the same species using the biological

concept. This is because when they are in contact with each other, they are

capable of mating and producing viable offspring which is a major condition

to determine biological species.

b) Tigers and lions aren't of  the same species using the ecological species

concept as a result of them being exposed to different environmental

conditions and resources called a niche. A tiger is said to live in forested

areas while lions live in open savanna which have different set of resources.

a. I wouldn't classify them as the same species according to the biological species concept since this concept says that it requires animals to be able to breed in nature (lions and tigers occupy different regions).

b. Using the ecological speceis concept I would clasify lions and tigers as a same species since this concept requires animals to ocupy the same niche in their environmet (both are the top consumers in their respective environments).
