A bulb is a short, fleshy stem surrounded by enlarged, flesh bases of leaves. The most common bulb plants are bananas and onions where a flowering shoot is located at the center of the bulb ready for growth. They have a different way of storing their food source through extensions of the plants like shoots and flowers.
