Why does florida have a large number of underwater cave systems

Florida has a large number of underwater caves because the rainwater, which is slightly acidic, seeps and dissolves into the limestone bedrock.  This creates both caverns and sinkholes.  Then, due to the high water table in Florida, they get flooded a lot.
