Compare and contrast broca’s area and wernicke’s area. describe how each was discovered.

Both of the areas have a role in speech.
Broca's area is located in the frontal lobe and it is involved in the motor speech which means it helps in movements required to produce speech. It is discovered by Pierre Paul Broca who’s patients had lost the ability to speak after injury in the frontal part of the brain. The area was called Broca's area, and the deficit in language production Broca's aphasia.
Wernicke's area is located in the parietal and temporal lobe and it is the sensory area. Wernicke's area helps in understanding written and spoken language. It was discovered by Carl Wernicke when his patients were able to speak but weren’t able to actually comprehend language.
