Chad is a character that held so much potential. It's a shame what happened to him. When he was first introduced, I thought he was going to have a great development. His powers were cool and his personality was equally interesting. I think the Soul Society arc was the beginning of his tragic downfall. The reality is that the way Kubo wrote him, made it easy for us to gauge his future performance.

At the time, Chad could not even win against a low lieutenant level Shinigami. By comparison, Uryu grew his powers tremendously, to the point of defeating a captain. Likewise, Ichigo displayed some monster feats. These are Chad's friends. One blew a big hole in a captain's body and the other manage to defeat lieutenants and a few captains in the same arc.
