He was the first monarch to set up a workshop in India under the supervision of two Persian masters, Mir Sayyed Ali and Abdus Samad. Previously, they had both served under Humayun's sponsorship in Kabul and accompanied him to India when he regained his throne in 1555. More than 100 painters were employed, most of whom were Gujarat, Gwalior and Kashmir Hindus, who gave birth. of a new school of painting, popularly known as the Mughal School of Miniature Paintings.
