how can i simplify the parts of the brain; how would i make it simpler, for example, to explain it to a 5-6 year old?

You should come up with a metaphor for what the brain is like... the brain is a lot like a complex machine that powers different areas of the body so you could do a car or something

examples:

 hippocampus - memory - it's like the spedometer of the car that records its history of travel
occipital lobe - vision - it's like the windshield that lets you see
brainstem and frontal lobe - critical functions of the car like the engine and stuff
