Philocleon is a sympathetic character: He is very clever in frustrating the efforts of his son to curb his appetite for jury duty. He knows how to enjoy himself, both as juror and former juror. Bdelycleon is a much less sympathetic character: Even though he seems perfectly justified in trying to cure his father of his unusual addiction, he comes off as uptight and personality free.
