What should be done about high schools? here are some concerns that have been expressed about american high schools: 1. while boys do better than girls in math, girls do better than boys on almost every other index of achievement and apply to college in greater numbers. 2. there are not enough students studying math and science. our pool of scientists is decreasing at a time when our country needs more innovation. 3. college has become increasingly essential for available jobs, yet many students do not emerge from high school college ready. consider what you read in the textbook chapter on school, and your own high school experience. do you agree with these concerns, and if so, what needs to change?
