You have just graduated from law school and have gotten your first job. on your first day you have your first client (very the client, named sally, reports the following: she lives in a house next to a college fraternity. when she was younger she enjoyed going to parties at the fraternity house but now that she is older (she is 40) she finds the parties annoying. they often go late into the night and are always very loud. she has called the police many times but the parties continue after the police leave. recently, during a particularly loud party on a weeknight, she went over to the fraternity house to ask them to be quiet. when she entered the house (the front door was open) she was hit in the stomach by one of the larger frat brothers whom she recognized. he appeared to be very drunk. she left the party (she had to crawl because of the pain) and called an ambulance. upon seeing a doctor she learned she had a ruptured spleen that required immediate surgery. she was hospitalized for a week and couldn’t return to work for a month. what are her legal options? can she pursue a criminal matter and a civil matter? how will she be reimbursed for her medical expenses and lost wages? explain each option thoroughly.
